Lucie Wharton
Lucie Wharton has been a professional rider and
trainer for over twenty-five years. Originally from
Connecticut, Lucie began riding at the age of
fifteen.
She competed with success in the hunter and
equitation rings under the tutelage of many well-known
trainers, including Butch and Lu Thomas, Bob Kovacs,
Olympian Anne Kursinski, and noted rider, trainer,
and judge Victor Hugo-Vidal.
After earning her B.S. in Chemistry at the
University of Denver, Lucie decided to pursue her
passion for horses and went professional in the late
1980s. Lucie has been a fixture in the Northern
California hunter/jumper scene since she moved to
the area from the East Coast. Lucie's emphasis on
hard work, dedication, and the fundamentals has
consistently produced horse and rider teams who
excel in the hunter, jumper, and equitation arenas.
Lucie
currently campaigns her horse Bandit in the Level 6
and Level 7 jumpers and her new mount NZ Socialite
in the Seven/Eight-Year-Old Jumpers. She remains
active behind the scenes as First Vice-President of
the Northern California Hunter/Jumper Association.
