Congratulations to Lucie on the arrival of her new mare Nefertiti, who comes to us from Belgium! Congratulations are also due to the Callaway family on the purchase of Ernie. Thanks to Erin Duffy and Ilan Ferder for making this opportunity possible!
End-of-Summer Wrap Up
Congratulations to Lucie and Bandit, Reserve Champions in the Monterey Bay Series in both the 1.15m and 1.40m Jumpers even with just two Pebble Beach shows under their belts! Whileaway wrapped up the summer at Strides and Tides in Pebble Beach. Wendy Floriani and Ravenelli entered the show ring for the first time in two years and proved they aren't rusty at all with blue and red ribbons in the 0.75m Jumpers and good ribbons in the Beginning and Modified Adult Hunters. Bandit and NZ Socialite took home good ribbons in the 1.35m Jumpers, and were both in the ribbons in the Jumper Special, taking 6th and 8th respectively.
Mid-Summer Barn News
Whileaway is just back from a very successful showing at the Pebble Beach Classic I. Lucie aboard Bandit and NZ Socialite were the ones to beat in the 1.35m classes, taking 1st and 2nd in the first and 4th and 7th in the second. Lucie and Bandit also brought home 5th in the 1.40m. Audrey Meadowcroft took home two tricolor ribbons with consistent rides aboard Meg Jacobs' horse Finally, earning Champion in the Maiden Equitation 17 & Under and Reserve Champion in the Novice Equitation 17 & Under. Other notable performances in the summer horse shows include top placings by NZ Socialite and Bandit in the 1.35m jumpers at the Woodside Circuit Opener. Lucie and Bandit were 2nd and 5th in the competitive Level 7s at the Pickwick Summer Classic, and put in strong performances in the ribbons in the 1m30s at Golden State.Whileaway will finish the summer shows at the Oaks Blenheim Classic II in San Juan Capistrano before returning to the NorCal circuit for Strides & Tides at Pebble Beach in September.
Winter and Spring
Horse Show Update
Whileaway
started off the 2009 show season at the Northern
Winter Classic Welcome in Rancho Murieta. Audrey
Meadowcroft and Scout's Honor ribboned in the Novice
and Maiden Equitation divisions. Amy Drake aboard
Dress Code pinned consistently in the Adult Amateur
Hunters and the age group eq, and Lucie piloted him
into the ribbons in the Pre-Green and Schooling
Hunters.
Lucie and
her jumpers headed down to Thermal to compete
in Weeks V and VI. Bandit and Ernie
brought home ribbons in the 1.30m Level 6 Jumpers,
the 1.25m Level 5 Jumpers, and the 1.10 Level 3
Jumpers.
At the
Woodside Spring Preview, Audrey Meadowcroft and
Scout's Honor took on the Low Children's Hunters.
Lucie and Bandit were 3rd in the 1.20m Jumpers, 2nd
and 5th in the 1.35m Jumpers. With NZ Socialite,
Lucie was 5th and 7th in the 1.35m Jumpers. Lucie
returned the next week for the big class of the
Woodside Spring Classic, finishing 4th on Bandit
and 7th on NZ Socialite in the $7500 Woodside Jumper
Classic.
